Not-so-Black Friday

I took an informal Facebook poll asking people if they were going to go shopping today, Black Friday.  the results were 13-NO, 1-YES.  I was one of those that said I would not be going.  Why?  I feel that my time and sanity are more important than any sale at any store, no matter what the discount.  It's also unlikely that I would get any of the really big deals because there is no way I would stand outside all night to wait to go shopping.  I do have a flashback that deals with this...

The Christmas Tradition
by: AlienCG
December 8, 2004

People come from far and near
To test tradition every year
To shopping stores and giant malls
Just to get in they'll climb the walls

They drive around looking for a space
Then get out and run in the foot race
Once inside they look for a deal
It takes plenty of guts and nerves of steel

They look for the hot toy to put under the tree
What is it this year? We'll have to wait and see
To the clothing store for a sweater for dad
They don't have his size; it's time to get mad

The ladies are fighting over the last pair of shoes
Others are arguing, it's like a bunch of small zoos
Store clerks are standing, tired and tense
Owners are joyful counting dollars and cents

The holidays are here, time to go shopping
The kids are sleepy, but there is no stopping
It's not the time of year for those faint of heart
I think I'll stay home, shopping online seems smart

That was written back in December of 2004.  It pretty much sums up my feelings about going shopping on the day after Thanksgiving.  I even went to get my license plates renewed on Tuesday so I wouldn't have to leave the house today.  I have plenty of food and toilet paper so I shouldn't have to go anywhere today, but I am going to Kloud's to to play some XBox tomorrow.  Have a good day and if you're out shopping today, my condolences.

I actually did go shopping today, but it was more for relaxation. How's that for weird? I meant to go Christmas shopping and put stuff on layaway, but instead I bought a few things for myself and bought a few presents for family. But just one store and the store wasn't even crowded.
